5 Things we should know about homelessness in Gainesville

 

        1.Homelessness is a prevalent issue in Gainesville, Gainesville has been treated as a popular destination for homeless people.

 

        2.There are approximately 1,000 homeless individuals in Alachua County. Eevn with the support from shelters, more than 600 individuals are            sleeping on the street every night.

 

        3.About 35 percent of all local homeless individuals are women and 27 percent are under the age of 18.

 

        4.More than 34 percent have received a high school diploma or GED. Therefore, the problem cannot be solely attributed to unintelligence or            laziness. They can be any position, such as student or retired soldier.

 

        5.One of the biggest shelters in Gainesville is the Grace Marketplace, where food, drinks, and beds are offered for homeless people. Dignity            Village, a  tent city located around the GRACE Marketplace, where a great number of homeless people living in tents. GRACE doesn't                  rule over Dignity Village but are there to help.
